Pace yourself

We're all about having fun on the best day of your life, but remember — you don't get this day back. You want to remember the amazing moments with your family and friends, not the one you spent overserved. Just because the DJ plays a party anthem doesn't mean you have to prove a point.

If you're doing La Marcha, make sure your leaders actually know how to lead it

This might sound simple, but we've seen it turn into a disaster on the dance floor more than once when the leaders don't know what they're doing. Some couples are moving away from La Marcha altogether because it can feel like a long, drawn-out barrier to opening up the dance floor — here's how to keep it quick if you do it:

• Leaders split the guys to one side, the gals to the other, forming two lines.
• The lines come together and form a tunnel.
• The leaders grab the couple and lead them back through the tunnel — everyone else joins in behind, holding hands through the tunnel.
• The leaders circle the dance floor; once everyone's out of the tunnel and the circle is formed, the couple dances for a minute in the middle.
• Done. For a wedding of 150–200 guests, this should take about 10–15 minutes, tops.

A trend we were seeing

More weddings incorporating multiple spaces — a separate room for the pre-ceremony gathering, the ceremony itself, dinner on another floor, and dancing in a different ballroom entirely. If your wedding follows this pattern, budget for the added time and labor that extra gear and setup requires.
